- The petticoats are part of the Virgin's underwear and it is the innermost part of the Virgin's garments. 

 - They are usually two pieces that cover the torso of the reliquary image of the Virgin, but they are never seen. 

 - Most of the petticoats are white with precious lace, embroidery, silk, etc.
